I tried to enable safeguard on v2.0.0.6 of softraid lite XT and it said My Softraid 6 Pro (with Additional seat) license only works for Genuine OWC enclosures
I know the Thunderbay 6 was a short lived product is it possible it was simply not added to the software?
Send me the serial number of your enclosure, I can check this out and report it to engineering if this is the case.
i didn’t see a PM function on these forums so in the open will have to do I suppose
I removed the images before posting. I will investigate this.
Is this a Hackintosh? That is also a reason this can happen.
Well, its a 50/50 Hack, the two OS's are completely isolated on seperate nvme drives and Windows is never booted using the openCore bootloader,
The thunderbay 6 was purchased and setup initially on my Old genuine iMac however I have mostly used the thunderbay with Windows
This system uses an Asus Prime X299 edition 30 motherboard which has built in Thunderbolt 3
I suspect this is the problem. On a "hackintosh" SoftRAID is OK, but there is no way to detect the Thunderbay's signature, so the XT versions do not work, you need the pro version. On the windows side it is not an issue, but on the Mac side it is.
i think there is a misunderstanding
I am using this on windows I just upgraded to softraid 6 pro with an additional seat license
one for macOS and one to use on windows
i downloaded the windows v2.0.0.6 that is/was labeled as “pro” and used my “softraid 6 Pro” license to install it but the software UI still says softraid lite xt in the about box
i have zero issues with the enclosure using it with hackintosh booted, I can disable or enable safeguard in macOS or any other functions of softraid without problems
the issue is solely with softraid on windows
any updates on this?
I just noticed there was a Windows Update, so I updated from v2.0.0.6 to 2.1.0.15, the internal "check for Updates" in v2.0.0.6 did not find this update I did manually by looking at the webpage
Same issue except now Softraid does not Identify as XT Lite Just Softraid but it is still saying that my PRO license is just XT and does not recognize my Thunderbay 6 as an OWC enclosure
There is No longer any Hackintosh on this machine it is Pure Windows booted by the Windows booter
Hey Scott,
My name is James and I work with the Windows team for SoftRAID at OWC - I think we'll want to take a closer look at this on a one-on-one basis as what you're experiencing does not sound typical. Can you open up a ticket directly with my team at this form here: https://software.owcdigital.com/support/supportform/
After you submit that you'll get a generic auto reply saying we got your request. Can you run a diagnostic for us and reply back to this email with the results?
With the drive array/set connected, please download and run: https://download.owc.com/diagnostics/windows
This should generate a .ZIP file - please send that my way for evaluation.
Additionally, if you have or can take screenshots of the problem specifically, please feel free to attach them. The more info on the problem, the better we can help.
Sorry for the trouble, we'll gladly help get you sorted.
I replied to the auto email with the diagnostics results and some screenshots
I'm sure you guys want to figure out what is going on and maybe there is a simple solution,
but if there is not and someone brings up idea of exchanging this thunderbay 6 I would like to suggest an exchange for a thunderbay 8 as the 6 is a discontinued product and I do not see that as an upgrade as I would be losing the NVME slot in the 6 and only gaining two sata slots, I also would have no issues with a refurbed thunderbay 8, as I said im not just out to get a freebie upgrade I simply want a working and properly supported product.
Can you stay in the ticket you created with the macsales site? I don't handle RMA's, or (at present) Windows usage. So it will be slower trying to go through the forum for your issue.
There should not be a generic problem with the Thunderbay 6. I suspect the problem is elsewhere, and make sure it is not a cable issue.
I just got a Thunderbay 4 and am experiencing this same error. It is not being recognized as an OWC enclosure. Has this been resolved at all ?
This is on Windows? I need to get someone else to assist.
Yes it should work. You are on Windows 10? What is the computer?
