Also, FYI, the computer has been crashing with only the Thunderbay plugged in. Literally nothing but that and a USB receiver for a mouse is all that is plugged in and it will not stay up.

It also seems to be primarily (or at least more repeatably) when waking from sleep.

Also, one more data point; if I don't allow the computer to sleep, it seems to minimize the crashes (I also have "allow hard drives to sleep" turned off).

It's been nearly 24 hours, and if the iMac Pro never sleeps, I do not see crashes, even with the CalDigital hub plugged in (though they're not daisy chained currently).

I've also noticed that on restart, sometimes the Thunderbay volume does not mount before the login items that expect too see it are loaded. Perhaps there is a slow-to-wake/remount/mount issue that MacOS is expecting to see the volume sooner than it appears.

Is this still happening for me on my 2019 iMac. I have the same issue and wonder if you found any resolution. i have the same config with a thunder bay and Caldigit T3 hub and getting random crash / reboots. It does not crash when the OWC Thunderbay 4 is disconnected.

I did set this up in our office with an iMac Pro, but do not see any issues. We do not have a CalDigit hub, however.

We are in the process of reporting this to Apple and trying to get some feedback.

Thanks for all the feedback. It does help.

One tip is the mounting issue, we have a feature that allows mounting of volumes when users are not logged in you can try enabling that. Mac OS X does all the mounting of volumes SoftRAID is not involved with Finder mechanisms.

Peter you may need to keep your iMac from auto sleeping and when you want to sleep it, then unmount your volume, until we can get a resolution on this. Seems like it will take an OSX. update though.

Did you also create the sysdiagnose file? The SoftRAID support file can easily be emailed the sysdiagnose file must be "shared", and sent to support at Softraid.

I have a support case with OWC and sent them the support file and the sysdiagnose. How can i give you the case # to look up?

Post it. It is of no use to anyone else.

I'm having a near identical issue as the OP and others. My 2017 imac is constantly crashing. I do not seem to be having issues when the Thunderbay is not connected. I have noticed that when I have the "Anti-sleep" app running crashes are greatly reduced. You can send a SoftRAID tech support file and the sys diagnose to support at softraid.

It is better if you first disconnect all other devices, then let the problem happen, then create the two files. Apple wants as few variables as possible. thanks.
