Existing: 2 x 3TB = 6TB usable RAID 0. 5TB free.

I'd like to convert to RAID 1 (3tb usable). Do I have to wipe and restore?

Yes you have to wipe and restore.

A stripe cannot be converted to a Mirror.

Thanks, I figured but I wanted to be sure. Love your software by the way.

Without losing data, here is a strategy to consider, since you have lots of spare space in your RAID 0.

1. defragment your RAID 0, so all the files are contiguous, freeing the end of the volume.

2. Resize your RAID 0 to 5 TB, or less.

3. Create a second 1 TB RAID 0. This will be created as the last volume on your drives (important for the next steps).

4. Copy the data from the 5TB RAID 0 to the 1 TB RAID 0.

5. Delete the 5 TB RAID 0.

6. Create a new 2.5TB (or smaller) RAID 1 in the newly created space.

7. Copy the data back from the 1TB RAID 0.

8. Delete the 1TB RAID 0.

9. Resize the RAID 1 to 3TB to use all the space on the disks.

This should work without wiping out any data and require no other drives to perform this change.

This is true, although backing up to the same drives as the main volume is not optimal. Best is secondary storage on separate disks for best practice.

Correct. This was meant under the assumption that no other drives were available.
