Updated to 7.0.1 and now SoftRaid isn't showing any RAID drives or other drives at all... see picture.
also none of the menu options are allowed...
We are working on this issue, it turned out to be complex to fix.
Run the 7.0 application, do not install the driver, when you need to manage your volumes. that will work fine.
I uninstalled the 7.0 stuff because during an update if I leave the older app folder on the machine during the restart it junks up in other ways erroring out and quitting. So basically I always have to delete the old app before the restart otherwise it gets confused during reboot. The volumes do still seem to be readable through finader and i don't need to 'manage' the RAID if you think it's easier just leave it like this until you fix the issue. My music library is on the RAID and that still plays fine just the SoftRaid interface is shocking me.
this is purely a UI issue, there is a race condition with the SoftRAID tool and SoftRAID monitor, where the app gets caught waiting for information, so hangs blank. It does not affect disks, or the driver in any way.
OP, I just saw that version 7 is available and have not yet updated from SR6. Could I kindly ask which operating system you're on? I'm still on 11.6.8 so it's not like I *have* to update yet. Looking through the forums I'm starting to think about holding off for awhile longer. Just wondering if the bug is global enough that it'd happen to me if I updated now too.
Its a very minor bug, you can run 7.0 application on top of the 7.0.1 driver and all works well. Its a "race condition" where two things happen at the same time and it has been tricky to figure out. But it has no user impact, if you run 7.0 to manage volumes.
@softraid-support, can you provide us a download link for v7.0.0?
If would be great if you could generally provide links to previous versions.
here is a link: https://softraid.com/updates/SoftRAID%207.0.dmg
I can make links available on request to users. We do not want users using the "wrong" drivers, so generally manually manage whenever a user needs an older version. the 7.0 link should not be "required" but for the blank screen bug. We are still working on it, though.
Hey all, I'm having a similar issue. This past weekend I set up my new Mac Studio (!) and upped my OS to Ventura. I just installed Soft Raid 7.1 and connected my RAID via Thunderbolt 2 > 3 adapter. I see my drives through Soft Raid but they will not mount. I have right clicked and chosen "mount" several times, to no avail. Please advise! Should I "validate volume"? Not sure what the next troubleshooting steps are?
I think the actual problem is you skipped this step:
Is this fixed yet?
@dfortney
Which issue? the blank screen with 7.0.1 on some users? No, we do not have this fixed yet, except to run 7.0 on the occasions you need to manage your drives. (and not install the 7.0 driver, just run the app, do your thing, then quit.)
