One disc in the RAID 5 has failed, I did not manage to replace it before it failed :(
I've added an additional disc and now cannot add this disc to the volume, the error message I'm receiving is because one of the disks is out of sync.
I can mount the RAID Volume and access all the data. Is there a way I can rebuild the RAID without deleting the volume and recreating it as the error message suggests?
Notice the disk with the yellow line?
That disk is out of sync. This means it is not possible for SoftRAID to guarantee all data is intact. Instead of letting you add a disk and find out you have damaged files later, we insist you do a proper restore of the volume, so SoftRAID can protect your data long term.
It is possible all data will copy off your volume cleanly, it is possible a couple files will show damage, but better to find out now, than later.
So best practice demands we do not allow the adding of a disk to a volume that is out of sync.
