After upgrading Mac M1 Mini to Monterey, all connected RAIDs say they have i/o errors or mirror failures. I assume this isn't true, but it's worrying. What is going on/how can I fix this?

Probably communication errors. Use "clear io counters" to clear all the errors. That should be all, I am guessing.

Same I/o errors for me. After clearing them, they come right back. All drives except boot drive. Some raid, some single drive. Also same errors in latest Big Sur with 6.2. Back to 6.1 and all is well with Big Sur.

@dongle69

I do not think there were any driver changes that would make any difference in 6.1 or 6.2.

Every restart you get new IO errors? and with 6.1 no IO errors?

Can you attach a support file, so I can see the errors?

@softraid-support I have gone back to Big Sur and 6.1, so I can't supply a support file. But yes, every restart with 6.2 (and every few minutes) there were I/O errors.

@dongle69

If you want to explore this again, install 6.2 and see if you get errors and save a tech support file.

Jumping into this thread as I am on 6.2 and have had the exact same io errors on all disks for months.  Recover and validate or clear io errors has no effect on the io errors.  Attaching tech support file for investigation.

@mountainman

You did a "recover failed disks" on the volume and validated?

That should clear this state. Then after the validate, clear IO counters, errors only.

Let me know if that is not working, this should be straightforward to fix.

The io errors have never gone away after recover failed disks maybe 20-30 times. Reset io errors also has no effect.

Attach a SoftRAID tech support file, I can look.

@mountainman

Often I don't look back. I am trying to respond promptly. So I may not remember the circumstances in a query.

I looked again, however, and you are getting constant errors from disks in the volume.

I think you either have a faulty cable, or faulty enclosure.

Can you try another cable? How old is your enclosure?

This is a hardware issue and I do not think it is a disk issue.

@softraid-support okay. This all happened immediately upon upgrade to monterey. My enclosure is 2 years old.

@mountainman

IO errors are communication errors. Since you are getting constant io errors during rebuild, it is a hardware issue, I am confident of that. At least try resetting your cables, then.  Clear the IO errors again, and try once more to "recover failed disks" or "validate" your volume.
