I have mac m4 pro, latest softward, with softraid 8.

I need to certify 4 x 16tb Exos drives for use in a Thunderbay 4.
If it matters, I am on sequoia, using an m4 pro chip.

1. How long will this process take in total for four disks?

2. Does the process certify all four disks at the same time?

Otherwise, can I divide it between two units? I have a Thunderbay 4 and an OWC dual HDD (toaster style) dock. I could use two computers to each verify 2 disks, if that would speed things up.

Thanks.

Expect 2TB/day to certify. You can certify 8 drives at once without any slowdown using HDD's.

So expect 8 days.

@softraid-support Thank you.
Do I certify before I create RAID 5 or after?

Before, as certify wipes all data on the disks.

@softraid-support ]

I am in the process of certifying all four 16tb drives, and I wonder if the estimated time (96:00:12 for the shortest, 101:26:58 for the longest) is for the entire process, or just the first pass?

I just started a few hours ago, so this is definitely the first pass.

@samtenpa

All passes. Expected time is 2TB a day for a guesstimate.
