I have four Thunderbay 4 Softraid units spinning by my side asmwe speak, but I've run into a snag. I bought a Thunderbay 4 enclosure and ordered my own Seagate Iron Horse 10TB drives. I have them installed in the enclosure and they are initialized, but regardless of what I attempt, they remain four distinct 10TB drives and Softraid will not allow me to create a volume. No matter what I do, like highlight all four, the options are grayed out in the menu bar. Any ideas?

You need to initialize the disks with SoftRAID.

You can review these video files:

Thanks for your response. I have spent several hours on the phone with Technical and we are all stumped at this point. "No matter what we try, all the options, including initialize are grayed out under the disk drop down. We cannot get Softraid to create a volume from the 4 10TB Seagate Ironwolf disks. After a week of trying everything, I'm going to pull them out and put them in a Drobo 5D unit. I'll replace them in my Thunderbay 4 with 8TB disks and see how that goes.

Send a SoftRAID tech support file to support at softraid

Maybe we can see something others are missing. Disks are disks, every one should work.
