Hi.
I am about to build a new raid-5 setup with softRaid. At first, I wanted to use 5 HDD and one SSD for OS, and applications. But I was wondering what would happened to my raid-5 if the SSD with the OS, and soft raid would crash as that drive is not part of the raid.
Can I just I mount a new SSD, install soft raid and it will recognize my drives and my files in the raid?
Also, will there ever be added RAID-6? As that allows for 2 disk failure?

Every RAID volume is "self contained", which means yes you can move it to another system/computer and operate it from there. All you need to do is install the current version of SoftRAID onto the new system.
We are investigating more RAID levels, yes, but cannot comment on this yet.
