Hi,
I am running SoftRAID Lite v 5.8.4 on Catalina 10.15.7 and suddenly system hang and forced me a restart
Now a Mirror Volume with 3 disks indicate need rebuild before mount ( Rebuild Start can be seen on SoftRaid Log) but I do no see any progress indicator ..
How can I check that REBUILDING is really progressing
Mar 25 11:36:02 - SoftRAID Driver: The SoftRAID volume "SG500Black" () previously encountered a read or write error. Please use the SoftRAID application to determine which disks needs to be replaced.

Mar 25 11:36:02 - SoftRAID Driver: The mirror volume "SG500Black" (disk4) is out of sync. A rebuild has started automatically.
Mar 25 11:36:06 - SoftRAID Monitor: Starting SMART test on all disks which support SMART.
Mar 25 11:36:08 - SoftRAID Monitor: The disk at disk0, SoftRAID ID: 08D5AB73BCFF9780, Location: Lower, SATA bus, 465 GB is predicted to fail. This disk is 20 - 60 times more likely to fail in the next 2 - 6 months than a normal disk. This prediction is based on SMART data retrieved from the disk. This disk should be replaced soon. SMART Attributes used for failure prediction are: ID 5 (Reallocated SectorCount) = 2, ID 196 (Reallocated Event Count) = 2, ID 197 (Reallocation Pending Sector Count) = 40, ID 198 (Uncorrectable Sector Count) = 0.
Mar 25 11:36:08 - SoftRAID Monitor: Finished SMART test on all disks.
Mar 25 11:36:48 - SoftRAID Application: Launching application: SoftRAID Lite, version 5.8.4
Mar 25 11:52:15 - SoftRAID Driver: The rebuild for the volume "SG500Black" (disk4) has been stopped.
There will be a progress bar and you will see the iO counters progressing. Your volume MUST be mounted normally to rebuild. Does it mount at all?
@softraid-support Hi .. no I can not mount VOLUME ... it seems a error disk are avoiding the mount and the rebuild.
How can I remove this failed disk if Remove disk option are DIMMED ?
You can just disconnect the other two physically.
Do you have access to Disk Warrior to repair the volume directory?
@softraid-support No ...How can use Disk Warrior ? Is it a MacOS utility ? Thanks again
Sorry it is a Commercial third party utiility and costs money. But a long standing utility that repairs directories very effectively.
@softraid-support I will take a look but ... do you mean ... it is high probably I am going to lost my Volume ? I was expecting have some protection working with 3 DISKS in a Softraid Mirror 1 Volume ...
Do you have any suggestion I can try with SoftRaid ? Currently I ask to VERIFY the failed disk
The Verify finished with ERROR ... So ...any way to have my VOLUME BACK with two other disks ?
I cannot see what is wrong with the internal disk, but it seems like it may be failing (Expand the disk tile to get more information)
I suspect that the disk is causing issues.
But if the volume has a volume Identifier it is being published, so if it does not mount, it is a volume directory issue.
MacOS cannot generally repair directories, the tools are very limited in macOS. that is why Disk Warrior is an important utility.
Otherwise you need to recover your data with something like Disk Drill. (you have to scan the volume, then copy off the data) Disk Drill works well for this, but much slower than repairing the volume directory with Disk Warrior.
I am running DiskDrill ... so just to confirm my understanding :
1) There is no Way to REMOVE that DISK from my VOLUME . CORRETC ?
2) AFTER Restore my Data I will need to DELETE The Volume and CREATE a New One with two remaining disks. CORRECT
Terrible CONCLUSION when SOFTRAID tell me that 2 other disks are HEALTHY and I will need to start my VOLUME from Scratch ..
ANY OTHER OPTION ?

Attach a tech support file, so I can see where the error was.
I think you needed Disk Warrior, (Disk Drill will recover the data at least), but lets see what I can tell from the support file
the problem is the internal disk is failing badly. I do not know whether it ever completed a rebuild wit the other disks, they both are very low on power on hours. If a rebuild has completed, the secondary has a full copy of your data.
Disk Drill can only recover data. Disk Warrior can replace/repair the directory.
In your case, the internal is the problem. I would not try to split the mirror until you have a copy of the data
Ok here it goes,
The disk appears to be unreadable about 270GB into the disk. that is where it is generating the errors. Also, the two disks never completed the rebuild, so they do not have a full copy of the disk yet.
Disk Drill is your best bet, actually. it may fail to copy some files, but then "skip" those and continue. I think this disk was bad from the start, but you only encountered the bad parts of the disk recently, when you used the second half of the disk.
What I would do is copy the data off, then copy it to one of the secondary disks. (I would "remove" one, then create a non RAID volume.)
then you can set up a mirror with the two disks. the internal, you need to replace. 2012 are not that hard to open up, with some care, you can replace it and I would put in a 500GB or 1TB SSD.
ok thanks a lot ... per help.
Best Regards
