Hi,
I'm moving from a Netgear NAS Hardware RAID to an OWC Mercury Elite USB enclosure with SoftRAID. On my old RAID, I had 4 disks (8TB, 3TB, 3TB, 1TB) which gave me about 7TB of mirrored storage. The same set of disks in my OWC only offers me 1TB of mirrored storage (not nearly enough). Is this solvable or did I just downgrade to a less capable RAID format? Aaargh.
Thanks for any help here,
Gary

SoftRAID does not support variable partitions in a volume. All volumes must be comprised of identical size volumes. Since one of your disks was a 1TB, a Mirror (RAID1) volume with the 4 disks would only show 1TB capacity.
We recommend exchanging that 1TB with a 8TB and mirror the two 8TB and the two 3TB drives into two volumes.
