Alternate boot disks with SoftRAID: possible?

I am worried about upgrading to Catalina, and want to investigate any "gotchas" before I commit.

One way to do this would be to make two volumes on my boot disk, one Mojave and one Catalina, and play with Catalina until I am ready to commit. Will it be possible to have SoftRAID installed on both these volumes at the same time? (Is SoftRAID's license limited to one machine or to one boot volume?)

(I did see the issue with Startup System Security and Catalina).

TIA

Yes you can have multiple startup volumes. With APFS, they can be on the same volume container. Yes it is confusing. But an APFS volume containers can have "volumes" added to them, where the sum total of data for all the volumes is the container size.

I have set up systems with 10.14.6, 1015.2, 10.15.3 on the same volume container, all able to startup the computer.

SoftRAID driver can be installed into each volume.
