Email Notification

First, I have two Mac Minis I hope to mirror. Once mirrored they will be running El Capitan and Server software. I was a little confused with the best practice for creating the scenario but through the forum have found what I think will work.
A. Have some bootable disk or computer with SoftRaid installed.
B. Connect the two Mac Minis to the bootable device and run SoftRaid
C. Initialize the Mac Minis
D. Create RAID volume
E. Connect the Minis together via Firewire or Thunderbolt
F. Install El Capitan
G. Install Server Software

Now this is where I am confused. If SoftRaid is not installed on one of the Minis how am I to be email notified of errors or critical events?
Can I install SoftRaid on one of the Minis and it monitors the two drives and provide email notifications? Am I required to have a separate computer (the one that set up the RAID) monitor the Minis and provide nitifications

I really wish you could provide a best case video for setting up a RAID Server situation.
