Installation seems stuck

I downloaded the trial of SoftRAID. Went through the installation. Started the app for the first time. I was prompted that the driver needed to be updated.

I'm now stuck at a point where there is a message telling me "Please wait while a new copy of the SoftRAID driver is installed and the boot cache is rebuilt. The could take as long as 60 seconds."

I've been waiting for 30 minutes and nothing has changed.

My machine is an iMac 5K running 10.11.3

I've attached a screen shot.

Should I force quite the app or is there something else that I should do?

SoftRAID is calling the OS X command to rebuild the boot cache. The OS most likely did not return the call.

quit SoftRAID, restart and click on your boot volume and "reinstall SoftRAID driver".

that should take care of this.

I'm trying to upgrade from 5.5 to 5.5.5. The same thing is happening to me. I couldn't just quit. I had to force-quit. But when I fired it back up, it's doing the same thing... just sitting there.

The one difference I did notice is that the driver was previously showing 5.5 and now it shows 5.5.5.

Is it safe to reboot and try this again? what is safe to do here? My boot volume is not a soft raid volume.

Yes, restart and try again. SoftRAID relies on the OS X to update the boot cache and sometimes it does not respond with a "completion", so SoftRAID is forced to wait for the response. (We do not like adding artificial timers to our software)
