I have an OWC Thunderbolt 4 with 3TB Seagate st3000dm001 drives running RAID5.
A drive has failed for the 3rd time. The first 2 were replaced under warranty, but this one is out and, given the history of sudden failure with this model, I'd like to not have to but another.
What are my options?
Ideally I'd like to upgrade to 4TB drives by swapping them in one at a time. Possible?
If not, will swapping in Seagate st3000dm008 drives , which don't appear to be as failure prone work?

You can replace this with any similar sized drive that you want.
Maybe try Hitachi or Toshiba this time?
You can replace all drives with 4TB drives, yes. After all 4 are replaced, then "resize" the volume to make it larger.
Note: keep your backups up to date!

So, just to be clear, swapping in a different size and brand is not an issue?
Used to be that matched drives in both size and model were recommended for RAIDs.
Can't afford to lay out $1000 or so for 4 new drives at one time.

SoftRAID does not care what brand drives are. As long as they are reliable.
