Hi Softraid team, will we get an early beta for MacOS Golden Gate? At the moment, Softraid doesn't start on the new version. All hard disks mount correctly.
Yes we will have a beta soon. We were running a semi private beta for SoftRAID, and need to smooth out the experience for those beta testers to migrate to Golden Gate, before we release a public beta of SoftRAID 9. But we have it working, and should be available in the next couple weeks we expect. We will announce it in the forum when the beta is publicly available.
Public Beta for MacOS Golden Gate is available now any updates on a public beta for SoftRAID9?
@uwemoeschel
There is no public beta available yet but one is coming. Its not a Golden Gate issue holding this up, its something else.
Commenting to come back to this thread. Just installed Golden Gate, so looking forward to the beta for SoftRAID
Hello,
I would like to report a compatibility issue with SoftRAID 8.6.1 on macOS 27 Developer Beta.
System configuration
- Mac: Apple Silicon M5 Max
- macOS: 27 Developer Beta
- SoftRAID: 8.6.1
- Hardware: OWC ThunderBay 8, Express 4M2 Ultra
RAID configuration
- One RAID 5 volume (ThunderBay 8)
- One RAID 0 volume (Express 4M2 Ultra)
Issue
When I launch the SoftRAID application, I receive the following message:
"This version of SoftRAID cannot be used with this version of macOS."
The application does not start.
Current status
- SoftRAID Monitor is running normally.
- Both the RAID 5 and RAID 0 volumes mount successfully.
- Read and write operations work normally on both volumes.
- Finder and Disk Utility can access the volumes without any apparent issues.
It appears that only the SoftRAID GUI application is blocked by the macOS version check, while the driver and monitor continue to function.
Could you please let me know:
- Is there a newer SoftRAID 9 beta build that supports macOS 27 Developer Beta?
- If so, where can I download it?
- Are there any known issues or recommended precautions for upgrading from SoftRAID 8.6.1 while preserving the existing RAID 5 and RAID 0 volumes?
Thank you for your assistance.
Any news, would appreciate the public beta to be available.
We should have a public Golden Gate compatible SoftRAID 9 by end of this week. There is nothing special you need to know, it will "just work".
@softraid-support does that mean i can just upgrade or do i have to recreate the drives due to raid6 availability as per previous softraid 9 beta
@uwemoeschel
NO, there will be a migration so your disks are safe to connect to Golden Gate. That is what is causing the delay, we need to make sure that beta testers have a valid migration path.
