I have a new OWC Thunderbay 4 enclosure with 4 - 8TB drives installed. Before I put the array in service, I certified each disk. Everything ran great until last week when I noticed one drive had 2 I/O errors. I verified the disk, and it had no errors. I cleared the I/O error counter, and then the disk showed "data and parity disk - failed." I then selected the volume and chose to validate. Upon completion, no errors were identified. The volume was not mounted, so I tried to mount it, but it would not mount. It just displays mounting blinking for a bit and returns to unmounted. How do I fix this issue?
Please attach a SoftRAID tech support file.
DId the volume ever mount?
@softraid-support Yes. I had to use Disk Warrior to rebuild the directory, and then it mounted. I'm validating the volume now, and I expect it should be back to normal operating conditions.
Disk Warrior is your friend on HFS volumes. I hope they get an APFS version released one day!
