Video Surveillance Raid 1+0 Questions

I run a MacPro with 20+ cameras, most are 1-2 MP cameras with some 3-5 MP cameras. I am about to move to a nMP with Thunderbolt 2.

I want to run RAID 1+0 volumes (10TB drives each). During the work day video is be captured almost continuously. I have been bit by not having a backup and now look to correct this problem with SoftRAID 1+0.

My questions are:

Is RAID 1+0 is the best choice for speed and redundancy in this environment?

Would 5400 RPM drives be ok to use in a scenario like this or should I stick to 7200 rpm drives?

I will be utilizing MacSales USB 3.0 (JBOD) and Thunderbay (JBOD) enclosures. I can move everything to Thunderbolt via Thunderbay and eliminate the USB 3.0 enclosures if needed.

TIA

Yes RAID 1+0 is best for your requirement.

You do not really need 7200 RPM drives. My impression is 5400 will last longer also.

I recommend you move to Thunderbolt enclosures as soon as possible.

Thanks. I have two TB2 enclosures on the way. I will go with the 5400 RPM HDDs as well. Many thanks!!
