I copied about 600GB from a 4-disk RAID 5 volume to the SSD on my iMac Retina and performance was very good, about 500-600MB/sec.
I deleted all volumes on the RAID and created three new ones, also 4-disk RAID 5. When I copied the data back, performance was only about 150-200MB/sec.
The copies were sequential, one copy at a time (each about 300GB).
Why was it slower to copy from SSD to RAID?
