hello I was trying to see if I had and 3rd Party K-extensions installed.
I ran in Terminal the following command:
kextstat | grep -v com.apple
What I got back is:
Index Refs Address Size Wired Name (Version) UUID <Linked Against> 276 0 0 0x1b42 0x1b42 com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID (7.0.1) 03EA87D9-D972-3887-8AB6-5A41F793F337 <21 5 4 3>
I have a newer version of the SoftRAID app installed on my computer.
Is com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID (7.0.1) still supposed to be installed?
Could it be conflicting with my newer SoftRAID app?
How do I safely remove com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID (7.0.1) if I am allowed?
Cheers and thanks
What OS are you on?
did you launch the new SoftRAID, to update the driver?
don't ever manage this stuff "manually".
@softraid-support hello I am on macOS 13.6.4
I did launch SoftRAID to update the driver, in the bottom right corner it says Driver v 7.5
I'm thinking that perhaps the 7.0.1 kext didn't get removed when I opened the new version?
I'm running an OWC RAID mini 4.
I would like to change the security settings for my M1 Max MBP back to the secure setting but I don't want to remove access to my RAID and this is the only 3rd Party kext installed.
Thank you for helping me track this down.
I deactivated my license and used the SoftRAID Uninstall command to remove all of SoftRAID's components.
com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID (7.0.1) still remains and hasn't yet been deleted.
What should I do if not delete it manually?
looks like I had to restart my computer.
I have done so and it seems to be gone now. It seems as though when I updated to the new version the application failed to remove the old driver.
% grep -v com.apple Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil showloaded No variant specified, falling back to release Index Refs Address Size Wired Name (Version) UUID <Linked Against>
So if it remains you have to deactivate it and tell SoftRAID to Uninstall all SoftRAID Components and then load up the SoftRAID app again to load in the new drivers.
I can now re-enable the higher security level again.
When you launch 7.6, it will offer to uninstall older versions next launch. There were a lot of changes in MacOS, and we made as many changes in SoftRAID as possible to support the changes, but some came later in 7.6.1.
You can set security to any setting in your M1. ;-)
