I have created a soft raid volume via Softraid 5.0.5. I updated to 5.0.6 and then 5.0.7 bust as my trial period had lapsed I couldn't do anything with the volume. I then updated MacOS to 10.11.1 and installed Softraid Lite. The help menu suggested using the Volume menu and the Convert item to enable me to convert it back to a MacOS x volume. However there is no Convert item in the volume menu. I want to uninstall Softraid as it still does not have a feature that I was told was coming when I enquired back in Softraid 5.0.5. So how do I convert my soft raid volumes back to normal MacOS X volumes?

Not amused.

We do not have convert working yet. We did note this in the release notes, but did not change the help files as we are getting convert back in shortly, we expect in the next couple weeks.

What is the missing feature in SoftRAID Lite that you desire?

I, too, was wondering about this. I just grabbed 2 new drives for my Mac Pro and finished cloning it only to realize there is no convert feature. I'd prefer not to wipe it out, initialize it, then clone it again. I'll anxiously await the update so I can test and register a copy!

I am in the same predicament as fury88 above. I've downloaded trial copy of the SoftRaid Lite this morning (Jan 4, 2016) and Convert option is still not available under Volume menu. Like fury88, I would rather not reclone as that would be another full-day task (btw, it's my Time Machine disk that cannot be cloned but can only be 'copied' which takes longer, adding to the pain). When do you expect Convert option to be included and fully functional? I understand it's taking longer than anticipated - please let us know the updated timeframe.

We are getting close to having a beta with this feature, so it should not be long before we can offer something. Sorry we cannot give a date, but we are working hard on getting this complete.

thanks

Thank you. Is there a way for me to be notified when the version is offered? I could sign up on mailing list or let me know if you make announcements on Facebook.

We don't have a Facebook page. We will announce here. Check in about a week or so, if you want to try a beta. (We are targeting mid January for beta)

When the release is out, SoftRAID will automatically notify you of the availability of 5.2.

We are hoping to get the first beta version out next week that includes convert code. It will not be feature complete, but further progress should be quick once we have the first beta release out.

If you are running an older version of O X (10.9) you can use that to convert using 4.5.4.

Otherwise, hang in, we are getting very close finally.

We have posted a SoftRAID beta version that has the "convert" functionality.

(deleted)

Please read the release notes.

There are still some outstanding bugs (its beta after all), but there are no known data loss or volume corruption issues with the beta release.

Let us know if you find any issues.

SoftRAID 5.5 was released on April 11, 2016

hello support,
I also investigated in SoftRaid since Apple came with a truncated Disk Utility in El capitan.
I used a 5.05 trial,that was not supporting converting...
In the end I decided tot stay with Mavericks 10.9

Now i have some Softraid volumes ; my trial period has ended and i tried to partition in mavericks a Softraid volume with no succes- in fact disk utility (OSX9) was stuck in an endless loop.
I now have an unmounted SoftRaid volume i cannot longer mount nor do i know how to go back to the Apple partition map.

Please help me out.
regrads,

Pieter
