Upgrade question about preparing a MAc

SoftRAID has come up with notice of an update (from 7.5 to 7.6).  Reading the installation instructions, there is a section on preparing the Mac (I have a MacBook M1 Pro with OS 12.6.3) and I don't remember if I ever did some of those things.  Are they new with 7.6 and should I do them now, or should I just double-click the new version and let it install?

Everything has been working except for what seems like unnecessary activity on the RAID array when I'm working exclusively on the Mac HD.  I'm wondering if I could have missed doing some of those steps before.  I'm using the RAID (ThunderBay, RAID-5, 18TB with 8TB available) to store photographs, and using Lightoom and Photoshop.  When I download new files they go only to the Mac HD and I initially work with them there, first in Lightroom and then often in Photoshop.  The Lightroom catalog is on the Mac HD.  But while editing pictures I often get a lot of activity going on with the RAID, which slows things down.  Is there any way to prevent or minimize this?  Could it have anything to do with whether I have failed to do some of the steps outlined in the instruction manual to prepare a Mac?

If it matters, I'm not using Time Machine.

Thanks for any assistance!

When you upgrade, you will need to "allow" OWC as an identified developer in System Preferences/Security. SoftRAID should prompt you for that at installation time. (you had to have done this before, also)

the IO activity on the disks must be Lightroom. SoftRAID does not know what a "file" is, it only tells MacOS where to put data it is writing. this simplifies the driver,and all MacOS activity is the same on a SoftRAID, or non SoftRAID volume.

Possible Lightroom (or MacOS) is doing some indexing.

I just installed 7.6 over 7.5 but the installed drive is still 7.5
I uninstalled SR Components and rebooted. But driver is still 7.5.

How do I update the driver? I'm on Ventura 13.5.2 M1Pro Macbook

@manilx

In Ventura, MacOS will always load the 7.5 driver, regardless of the SoftRAID application version. this is the new normal.
