Lets try removing the duet display extension.

Uninstall SoftRAID (utilities menu)

Paste these into terminal, one at a time:

sudo rm -r //Library/Extensions/DuetDisplay.kext

sudo kmutil clear-staging

sudo kextcache -i /

restart

Let me know. These are very frustrating issues, because the solutions are weird, inconsistent, and time consuming for all of us.

Are you able to manually delete?(go to /Library/Extensions/ and then delete it ?)

then run the two kext commands in terminal and restart:

sudo kmutil clear-staging

sudo kextcache -i /

BTW: SIP and Secure Boot settings only matter to Catalina.

Are you using this driver? Does Canon have an updated version for Big Sur?

What if you "safe boot", then remove the extension from the extensions folder, reset the cache (terminal commands), then restart? Can you try that?

Removed the Duet extension per your instructions, but still do not get the "Allow" option in the preferences. Same result after restart that drives won't mount unless I terminal in the

sudo kextload -v /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext

Can you check if SoftRAID.kext is in the /Library/StagedExtensions folder?

SoftRAID.kext is in that folder.

As you can tell, I am still stuck then.

When you restart and run SoftRAID, do you get a password request each time you launch? Does SoftRAID offer to install the driver? Or does the SoftRAID applicaiton behave "normally"?

Next restart, save a System Report (about this Mac), so I can check one thing, I am interested if any third party extensions at all are loading before you force the SoftRAID driver to load. I won't post it on the forum, I will delete it before approving your post.

We may have to have a clean install to resolve this.

The driver installs and then no other request from SoftRAID app to reinstall or enter password...just no mounting of the drives until I do the force load command. I'm leaning towards doing a clean install and can use the force load until I get to that point. Interesting that everything worked before the 6.0.4 and the latest Mac BigSur update. Thank you!

This is a difficult one to figure out. I will post with any new suggestions.

So full uninstall/reinstall will load the driver on install.  Not on restart.

Drives do load with command line.

I never get the Allow prompt in the System preferences.  I did the first time I installed. 6.04

Attached most recent support file.

Thanks again.

Each time you update the driver, you should get the option to "Allow" OWC as an identified developer.

If not, then macOS is not able to add it to the staged extensions.

Are you using your Drobo?  I don't want to try removing the Drobo drivers, unless you are not using it any longer.

@softraid-support I am using the Drobo.

I can remove them temporarily if you'd like  to experiment

Thanks for the response

I removed the Drobo drivers.  Did a full uninstall of the Softraid Drivers and App.

Reinstalled the Softraid Drivers and App. Never got Security prompt.

Had to reload the drives through command line.

Lets try it, and reset the kext caches:

sudo kmutil clear-staging
sudo kextcache -i /

restart and reinstall the SoftRAID driver. You should get the System Preferences dialog box, I would "Allow' before restarting after installing the SoftRAID driver. There is some navigating around restart buttons, but is more likely to avoid issues.

Last try:

uninstall Tuxera. Try SoftRAID again.

I have seen others using it, but it is the last installed third party driver in your system.
