I recently received a 2019 MacPro, running Catalina 10.15.2. I installed an ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 V.2 card and installed a single Samsung 2TB 970 EVO PLUS. There are three more M.2 slots available on the card and it reportedly works with an ASUS motherboard RAID solution.
It works great with the single SSD drive, with impressive speeds.
I also have a ThunderBay6 running SoftRAID XT 5.8.1, which sees the drive, along with all the other mounted drives.
I know that SoftRAID XT only works with OWC products. Would SoftRAID work with the ASUS board, allowing me to create a RAD4 with 4, 2TB drives?
Does anyone have experience with the ASUS board?
Thank you.
Run SoftRAID, which has a 30 day full functional trial period.
While I am sure it will work perfectly, let us know!
We are excited about the new Mac Pro and the amazing performance for NVMe blades.
We have seen 8GB/s throughput in the Apple labs with early prototype testing.
These should be exciting times for high performance applications!

Will there be any compatibility issues with the coexisting SoftRAID XT?
SoftRAID's driver is designed to work with any reliable hardware in macOS. So there should be no issues.
