I get a message "disc failure predicted". I have a replacement drive ready to install. I have Softraid 8 installed, Sonoma 14.4.1
1. How to locate the damaged disc? Trying to locate the damaged disc o=in the OWC Thunderbay Flex 8 (has two rows of lights; this disc is the lower level bays). I use the command "blink disc light" and instead of one light, three lights blink. (I am selecting the disc at risk in the left hand column). Do I assume that the light that is NOT blinking is the disc that needs to be replaced?
2. The "validate the volume" (recommended in the video about replacing discs) does not commence the process of validation.
Any suggestions for predicted-to-fail disc and whether validation of volume is a must?
Thank you!
I would say the light in the middle is the one actually blinking, the lights are very bright in the Flex8
If you can attach a support file from SoftRAID I can give more direction.
One easy confirmation is look at the disk serial number in SoftRAID, and when you pull a disk out, it should be that serial number.
@softraid-support thank you! I will make a note of the serial number. How does one obtain a support file? Thanks!
