I have a simple 2 drive USB 3 enclosure with the drives configured as a RAiD 1 volume. This is connected to a Mac Mini. When the machine is power cycled, it boots as expected; the enclosure is recognized and the volume is mounted. However when I do simple restart, the device is not detected. It doesn't appear in System Report and thus the volume is not mounted. After the machine is started, if I power cycle the enclosure it is detected and the volume is mounted.
This wasn't always so, when I set this machine up everything worked as expected.
Any suggestions for resolving this?
If it is not showing up in the OS (or SoftRAID) when you do a simple restart, then you have a hardware issue. Can you confirm that when you run SoftRAID it is not showing up?

Power off and on with the enclosure powered up and the enclosure is recognized.
The enclosure is not recognized with the systems is restarted without power anything off. The USB device does not show up insisted report. Power cycling the enclosure fixes the problem. The system recognizes the device and mounts the array.
Then you need to replace the enclosure, unfortunately. You can try re-seating the cabling, but this appears to be an enclosure failure.
