I wasn't ever prompted to reinstall the driver. The app says Driver 6.0.1 b48 is running.

Okay, nevermind, apparently the 11.2 upgrade turned off the previous Full Disk Access that Softraid 6.0.1b48 already had in 11.1. When I re-enabled and that and rebooted, the volumes mounted again.

I hope you guys can get Softraid to play better with Big Sur soon.

Apple has been changing/revamping how drivers load, especially in light of the many security holes that enables hacks or agencies to get through mac OS security. We are fortunate in that SoftRAID was built from the ground up with security in mind, but we are still being hit with extreme security from multiple directions.

What the ultimate result will be is all drivers moving to "userland", rather than as a kernel extension. This transition has been announced, and developers are told it will be ready in the next major OS release. (i.e. 12.0) Assuming Apple completes their end and subsequently publishes the driver kit needed, perhaps early as fall. I certainly hope this will help macOS settle down and become much simpler to install drivers like SoftRAID.

In my opinion, this has been an avoidable fiasco, as the rules have inconsistently changed from OS to OS.

It appears users will still need to manually "reduce security" on their systems, as on the M1, but hopefully no additional steps will be required. What we all want is a consistent set of rules, with consistent behavior, so users do not have to jump through obscure hoops just to load a driver and access their data.

When I go into safe mode to 'reduce security' I'm getting a 'recovery is trying to change system settings. no administrator was found' message. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Is there any possibility you can add the beta version on the download link on this page?

I refer back to this page when downloading the next beta version, and can never tell if a new version is out or not!

Is this a clean machine that you never logged into yet? (or set up an admin account?)

The current beta 0.48 expires in 16 days, are we getting a new beta before that, otherwise how to extend using this beta?

New betas are released well before the old expires. One is undergoing testing currently.

Cannot say. When the User Interface elements are in place, we may be ready, depending on other factors. Its too early to predict.

Updated to latest 52 with one installation issue... after it installs and you must go to security and allow OWC again and then you update the driver the OS says it needs to restart for it to take effect however if you click restart in that popup it then errors out saying SoftRaid cancelled restart, 'try again' doesn't work.  It seem you must first manually close the splash screen SoftRaid is displaying that has the 'don't show this on startup' checkbox in it which to be honest it should either default to off or remember that I unchecked that last time or even realize this window is unnecessary for an update since it was shown to the user before most certainly.  In any case those popup windows should never cancel an OS restart.  It is just a clunky experience for the update process.
