@softraid-support It does seem to be currently running once it restarted the app itself after the error. Would it be prudent to do a fresh clean version of it?

@cell-666

its not the app, it is the SoftRAID Monitor that is not answering the app.

Yes you can "uninstall SoftRAID all components and reinstall and see if this happens again.

Went through them steps. After the second reboot the drivers still loaded and a popup asked if SoftRAID could instal a Helper. Looked in application and it was still there. Did the reinstall of the app, driver went back on, waited for the Allow OWC. Restarted. There was no error in the reinstall this time though.

I am having similar issues. I try to eject the drives before restarting or turning off, and I have tried using Softraid to merely unmount them. I have three volumes, on in a Thunderblade and two in a Thunderbay 8. Usually I can umount all but the larger volume, but cannot usually unmount or eject off of them. When restarting, the computer hangs, tries to restart, fails, restarts again, and then loads up with the error report. As long as I don't turn off the computer or restart it, it's fine. Using a new Macbook pro 16 m1 with montery.

@grotteaux

6.2.1 did not make any difference to this behavior? I would think it would help in unmounting volumes, at least.

I had no issue unmounting last night which is a little better so far than them hanging while unmounting as previous. I'll see how mine gets on over the next week or so.

@softraid-support I do have 6.2.1 installed. Just tried ejecting the drives and none of them are ejecting. I can click on them, but when open them in finder, there is nothing on them. It's like they are partially ejected but just can't quite finish the job. Sometimes, if I start with the smallest voluime first, I can get them ejected, but seldom can I eject the 24 terabyte volume. And if I try to eject it first, and it hangs, I cannot eject the other ones.

@grotteaux

This sounds like a macOS issue (Finder). What 6.2.1 changed was to enable Time Machine to release volumes it had as a backup target.

Something is holding onto the volume. If you manually unmount via finder, does it give any clue as what is keeping it open?

there is an lsof command in terminal I can get you which will show open processes if you are stuck.

@softraid-support I don’t use Time Machine on any of my raid volumes. When I eject and have issues, the system doesn’t say anything. I know if you eject a a disk that is in use you can get a warning. I get nothing. The disk icon stays on the screen and appears empty when I click on it. Yeah, if you could share that terminal conmand i would appreciate it. Thank you!

@grotteaux

Take the space out of your volume name, if any, then use this:

sudo lsof /Volumes/myDrive

Where mydrive is the name of your volume

Please review the attached. Since upgrading, my system spontaneously re-boots. VERY annoying, as you might expect.

@david_preston

Attach a SoftRAID tech support file, I can look. this is interesting,as it appears the Apple RAID driver is involved.
