Yes it works back to 10.12.
Let me investigate Monterey. Can you send a support file so I know what your hardware etc is?
I installed 12 beta 10 on a iMac Pro, no problem with the SoftRAID driver loading with the current beta.
Can you send a support file when the driver cannot or is not, loading?
Still no luck with 6.2b3. I upgraded to macOS 12.0.1 (Release Candidate) and gave 6.2b3 another try. The good thing: my RAID volume is recognized, the bad thing: it can't be activated.
With 6.2b1 everything is fine.
All the beta's work on every computer in my lab with Monterey.
Something else is causing this. Can you attach a support file? Maybe I can see something.
Also what is the error, if any, when you paste this into terminal:
sudo kmutil load -p /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext
Volume is there, but cannot activated:
Terminal:
Error Domain=KMErrorDomain Code=27 "Extension with identifiers com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID not approved to load. Please approve using System Preferences." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Extension with identifiers com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID not approved to load. Please approve using System Preferences.}
But in system preferences there is nothing to approve
Will attach a support file later
Everything working well on Monterey 12.0.1 here with my brand new Thunderbay 8 flex + Softraid 6.2 b3. Will you give me a green light to start copying the archives to Thunderbay RAID5 please?
Regards
Arti
and here is the support file
It's working now 😎
I had to reinstall the driver twice and now is the RAID volume is up and running.
Reinstall SoftRAID driver, then go to System Preferences before restarting. It will be an option then.
I recommend you either do a clean install soon, or at least delete the 20 extensions you have installed going back ten years. remove everything more than 3 years old. Many of then are unsigned that can cause some problems.
I guess so, but keep in mind Monterey is also in beta until next week.
I thought so, but today they released 12.0.1 which is non-beta OS version... Quite interesting
That is a beta, as you are enrolled in the beta program to get Monterey, so this means that the release is finalized and all new changes are going into 12.0.1. (i.e, they did not finish fixing issues with Monterey, needed to release it so they could ship the new hardware, and remaining bugs will be fixed in the next update.
In regards of next week's launch of Monterey, what's the timeline for non-beta support of Monterey from SoftRAID? Just curious, as Softraid is the only software I use that I have concerns about in moving to Monterey, and I suspect a few others are in a similar spot.
My guess is we will be ready the next day. As you can see we have had a beta for a long time. We will want to do a run through before releasing in case Monterey has some late changes as had happened with both Catalina and Big Sur.
