Hi there,
At the moment I'm using a trial version of SoftRaid 5.5.5.
I've connected my Backup Raid (1+0) via an external disclosure, and I would love to be able to use SoftRaid to monitor these drives.
When I right-click one of the drives of my Backup Raid, it says that I can Disable SMART, but it doesn't look like it's enabled yet because there's no "No Errors" indicator (see attachment).
Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware limitation?
Thanks in advance,
Erik
SMART has to be passed through to the OS. If you have a hardware RAID 10, then the RAID chips prevent SMART data from reaching OS X.
If SMART data is available, then you can see, for instance, power on hours for each drive.
Disable SMART is used when there is a drive predicted to fail and you know it, and want to ignore the warnings on that drive (until you can get around to replacing it) Disable SMART will not query that disk any longer for SMART information.
