Hi all,

I have a message in SoftRAID that my 12 TB RAID 5 is "degraded • failed"

Since there is no specific drive identified as having an error, I am at a loss of what to do. It does not specify which drive has failed.

The volume fails to mount at startup, but will eventually mount with SoftRAID manual mount command.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Backup your volume. You may need to try "First Aid" in Disk Utility, or better Disk Warrior if you have it. A corrupted directory will prevent SoftRAID from rebuilding, and also make your volume either unmountable (eventually) or slow.

To repair the volume's status, try "recover failed disks". the validate afterwards may not work if your volume directory is too badly damaged, though.
