Hello everyone.
I have a 4 different RAID 1 arrays with two 6TB disks each. One of these is getting full, so I decided to replace the disks with 12TB ones, thus upgrading the size of the array.
I followed the instructions for replacing the disks, one by one, by removing the secondary disk, and then adding a new one. The process took some 36 hours for each disk.
The problem is that I now have a 6TB RAID 1 array with 12 TB disks and SOftraid will not let me change the size!
What have I done wrong? How can I make softraid use the whole 12TB of each disk?
ANy help would be appreciated
You did fine. the proiblem now is a bug in SoftRAID (turns out we need a fix in the developer XCode to fix it), that it cannot resize volumes currently. this happened when we added better support for APFS volumes.
to resize a volume, do you have access to any Mac you can connect your drives to, for a few minutes, running Big Sur, or older? Then you can resize, with 6.0.5 (which we can post a link to), and bring it back to your current system.
thank you very much for your prompt reply
that is a very serious bug!!! resizing is a very basic functionality!!!
add that to the other bug that I am currently facing, the "race condition", where Softraid 7.5 "does not see" my disks and you can see that Softraid is not working very well for me at the moment...
you should be testing new versions better before letting them out in the wild
can you please post a link to softraid 6.0.5?
Here is a link to 6.0.5.

We do extensive testing on every release of SoftRAID. But we cannot hold off a release because of a MacOS tool that is not working as required.
In the case of the blank window issue, we still do not quite understand the cause of this, it seems to happen mostly when users have modified their systems in some way. And it is hard to reproduce.
