Good morning,
I need to validate a 4TB hard drive because I would like it to be managed and controlled by Softraid Lite. I saw that it estimates a working time of 28 hours. Since I'm unable to keep my Mac on all this time, is there a way to resume the validation process the next day? I tried to do it but the process starts all over again...
Any advice?

Validate should auto resume. A validate is run by the SoftRAID driver and the application does not need to be open, it goes on in the background.

No, I'm sorry. Yesterday I turned my mac off and this morning I saw it start up again. Maybe the problem is because I'm using an external USB drive?

Are you doing a "verify" disk, or "Validate" volume?

Verify will not continue.

Run this command in terminal:

sudo kextstat -b com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID

What do you get?

You need to be running 5.8.3.

What OS version are you running? And what Computer?

Okay, I don't know why, but even with the updates, I always had an old version. Now I downloaded the last one available, installed and replaced with the one I had.
But there's a problem (mamma mia hopefully this situation can be solved) now the disks managed by Softraid don't mount...help!
I rebooted, tried to mount the disks, I can't activate them...

Anyway a MacPro 2009 and Mojave 10.14.6

Downloading the latest app does not install the driver. You must launch the app and install/update the driver. Then you are running the latest version

the mount issue can be resolved with this:

I recently went through the drill to get the 5.8.3 driver install on my MacBook Pro (2018) with Catalina OS. Yesterday as a matter of fact. My drives would not validate.

Now when I reboot, I need to reinitialize the validation process.

Thank you,
Ray

One more hoop:
https://srforums.wpengine.com/pages/support/faq/faq_imacpro_secureboot.html

The Catalina mount issue should have been resolved with 10.15.5.
Secure Boot is a longer term problem. We are hoping to find a solution with Apple for 10.16.

That is what I did yesterday to get validation to work. Has not permitted validation sustainment through reboot though. I have rebooted my system three times this morning solving another product remedy.
Thank you,
Ray

Validate is performed by the SoftRAID driver, so survives a reboot.
(unless the bundled driver is loaded)
Do not re-enable Secure Boot. Its all I can guess about this.
