I had to re-install SoftRAID Lite but now neither the app itself, nor 'Software monitor preferences' launch from the drop-down menu ( round icon) in the menu bar - I need to go into Applications or Launchpad.
> 'About SoftRAID monitor' brings up SoftRAID Lite Help
> Only 'Show SoftRAID log' works correctly
SoftRAID monitor is running and working correctly, and the main app is seeing and correctly recognising both my mirror and independently attached disks and SSD's
I have uninstalled (from the app), reinstalled and then rebooted - twice. No change , still doesn't link. Any way to relink these menu items?
Thanks
Regds,

OS X 10.11.3
This is an alias. For some reason, OS X is not able to find the application.
Make sure you are running 5.1.1 of Lite.
try uninstall SoftRAID from the utilities menu. then restart and run SoftRAID again. Does that fix this?
Running 5.1.1
I did uninstall from the Utilities menu, twice.
App shows in Applications and Launchpad but still won't launch from Menubar icon.
Bizarre.
The app works fine when clicked on in Finder, all drives showing and correctly ID'd.
Most likely, this means the SoftRAID Monitor is unable to launch or continue running.
Open the Activity Monitor.app.
Look at all processes.
Sort by process name
You should see both of these running:
softraidd
SoftRAID_Monitor
Are they?
Yes.
Both are running.

I think I've found the reason. I've got a back up disk (mirror) attached to the mac.
I killed as many soft raid processes as possible via activity monitor.
The relaunched SoftRAID from the Applications directory.
Bullseye.
The app must have linked, don't know how, to the backup version.
Anyway now all running normally.
Thanks your help.
Can you clarify one thing, so we can research this?
You indicated you had a "backup" disk that was a mirror of your system attached to your Mac. Was this from an application like CCC, SuperDuper, or Chronosync? Or was it just a Mirror secondary disk? If you give mus more details, it may help us prevent this scenario from affecting any other users.

Primary (boot) disk is a 2TB stripe (Apple RAID) (Thunderbolt)
Secondary disks are
(a) a 2TB mirror (backup) (Thunderbolt) ** using CCC
(b) another 2TB volume - single disk (Thunderbolt)
(c) just added a 2TB SSD (USB2)
Unsure how it happened but suspect that if I'd rebuilt 'LaunchServices' the correct link would have been restored.
Same problem here,
System :
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011)
- macOS Sierra 10.12.5, fresh install (I only installed SoftRAID)
- SoftRAID Lite 5.6 (demo) installed in Applications/SoftRAID Lite 5.6
- system disk is a SoftRAID RAID 1 volume
From the dropdown menu :
- SoftRAID monitor Preferences => does nothing
- Launch SoftRAID => does nothing
Also, I can not launch SoftRAID Easy Setup, it keeps saying : "This software is a companion utility to the SoftRAID main application. For complete functionality it requires that it be contained in a SoftRAID folder along side of the SoftRAID main application."
Processes :
- SoftRAID_monitor is running
- softraidd NOT running
SoftRAID.log :
Jun 3 11:48:10 - SoftRAID Application: Launching application: SoftRAID Lite, version 5.6
Jun 3 11:48:25 - SoftRAID Monitor: SoftRAID Lite Monitor loaded - demo mode, version 5.6.

Thanks
two things. the Easy Setup is easy to fix, we found a minor problem with the DMG file.
Copy the Easy setup outside the folder. Then copy it back. (do not rename the SoftRAID folder)
That should fix that.
The lack of the Menu bar Monitor not launching SoftRAID, if you try "uninstall SoftRAID" (Utilities menu), then run SoftRAID again, does that work?
I appears you can run SoftRAID, as your log shows it running, just not from the Menu icon. That is just an alias to the application and the problem is that SoftRAID is unable to set that path.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
Trick 1 fixes the link, Easy Setup opens, but it seems I don't need it since I manually configured my volume. I noticed a bug while running multi-display : the license agreement window automatically moves down partially outside the visible area, and it's impossible to click on the buttons (can't activate with the keyboard either). If you move the window, it will go back outside the visible area again. I disconnected my second screen and it worked just like normal.
Trick 2 : It says I can't uninstall SoftRAID because my startup volume uses the SoftRAID driver, and my system wouldn't boot without the SoftRAID driver. This is strange because the system was actually booting from the RAID volume before I installed SoftRAID.
How can I tell if SoftRAID is correctly installed and running ? I noticed the softraidd process (in another post) and this process is not running on my computer.

- I will post this to our bug list. thanks!

If a disk is in SoftRAID format, it will not mount if the SoftRAID driver is not present. So if you "uninstall SoftRAID" driver on your boot volume, the volume will not be bootable. You can reinstall the driver, or update it, but you cannot "uninstall" the driver.

If your volume is mounted, SoftRAID is working. the Monitor in the menu bar is a clue that all is OK, as it will be blue, or red when there is a problem.

I am also having the problem with the SoftRaid Monitor not launching the SoftRaid application. I downloaded the latest version 5.6.1 and ran the uninstall SoftRaid, then restarted the computer. After the restart, I reinstalled the latest version, entered my serial number, and restarted again. The problem continues that the link to Launch SoftRaid does not work.
This is just an annoyance, but it seems like something to fix in a future release. The user account I run is an admin account.
I think the problem is the application was set to quarantine by "GateKeeper" in OS X. So it is launching from a temp directory, not the Applications folder.
Can you try a simple test:
Disable the SMART USB drivers in SoftRAID preferences. Restart. See if the Monitor is able to launch SoftRAID consistently.
Did you ever launch SoftRAID from outside the Applications folder? If so, where from?
I had the same problem with the menu not opening the app.
Oddly the app Little Snitch came up with the solution and reason:
"The application is running in App Translocation, a macOS security mechanism for apps that are not properly installed, You cannot create permanent rules until you move the application to the Applications folder"
So moved the softraid app out of its folder (that was placed in the Applications folder) and placed the app directly in the Applications folder. Now everything is working fine and dandy.
