Hi, I am running OSX 10.11.3, RAID 1 with an external Thunderbay enclosure. When I use apple's Disk Utility and run First Aid to check my raid volume, I always get a message "updating boot support partitions for the volume as required". This message occurs every time I run first aid on the RAID 1 volume, even if I run it a minute before. Just wondering if this is normal. Is it safe to use Disk Utility's First Aid on SoftRaid volumes?

Thanks

This normal yes. The boot cache is required for starting up any non standard volume.

First Aid is safe to run on a SoftRAID volume.
