I'm getting this message on my volume in SoftRAID:
"RAID 1+0 • degraded • needs rebuilding"
When I right-click on the volume and select "Rebuild" nothing happens. I'm not sure what to do next.
Is the volume getting a Mac OS X warning that the volume is damaged and mounted read only?
If not, lets make sure the driver is loading. Paste this into terminal.app and see if you get SoftRAID as an output and what version if so:
kextstat -b com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID
Thanks for replying. This issue appears to have resolved itself. Despite trying multiple reboots yesterday to no effect, when I booted my mac this morning, I got SoftRAID dialogues saying the volume was out of sync and needed to be rebuilt. Rebuilding then commenced automatically, and everything seems fine now – no more warnings and a "blue dot" in the menu bar.
Just FYI, when I was experiencing the issue I did not get any warning from Mac OS about a damaged or read-only volume. The SoftRAID info I get from terminal output is: com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID (5.8.2)
In any case, I think this issue is resolved (although I still don't know what caused it in the first place).
Good news. I do not know, but think there may have been minor directory damage or something.
Would not hurt to (if you have access to it) run Disk Warrior on your volume. You can run Disk Utility First Aid if not.
