I've been using the lite version 5.8.1 for a good while now, as a licensed user. One day, I opened the app and it said Trial Version. Figuring that something had gone wrong with the code, I installed 5.8.4 on my new boot drive (a different location than where 5.8.1 is). It now says "The serial number you entered is invalid." This is the double-checked number I used in the initial install. Any idea how to get running? I need to create some volumes, and I now can't use DU because of SoftRAID.
Thanks,
Invalid means you are entering it incorrectly. You are entering the string of 5 digits? xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx?
Make sure it is correct. Try that first.
I told you I double checked it. There's something else wrong. That's what I asked for help with.
David 1260, your original post is interesting to me. I've been using the full version of SoftRAID 5.8.4 for over four months and just within the past few days my software said that I am now on the trial version, which will expire in 28 days from now. When I enter the serial number provided upon purchase, it says that my serial is for XT now. I purchased the full version because I needed that version to create RAIDs with non-OWC enclosures.
Initially OWC tech support told me that I was mistaken and had been using the XT version for the past 4 months (I hadn't), but this morning over phone support they acknowledged that "something" is going on and that they would get back to me soon.
Just wanted to let you know that you're not the only person who's serial number apparently changed recently. Hopefully they're able to figure this out.
Attach a SoftRAID Tech Support file. I can tell you what is wrong.
Serial numbers cannot change. We dealt with this in direct support, but your serial was never for SoftRAID, it was for XT, which was corrected.
But it did not "change". I have an idea what happened, but your log did not have enough history to be sure.
@soundn8 Thank you so much for confirming the possibility that something is "up" that I didn't cause. These situations are always challenging... I hope you got a solution.
@softraid-support. I sent you the file via Utilities. Did you get it?
@softraid-support When Utilities asked for my email, I assumed the report
was being transmitted by the app. Thanks for looking into this.
You should run the SoftRAID app, not lite, your license is for full SoftRAID.

@softraid-support Thank you. When I put my license into the full 5.8.4, it too said "invalid serial number."
Must have been a typo, it was entered correctly in your support file. I don't want to post it for obvious reasons.
It is easy to miss something, but I saw your middle set was QAQ67. Maybe you entered one or both of the Q's as 0? It is OK at present, SoftRAID sees a valid license, so running SoftRAID retail should fix you up.
@softraid-support I did a copy and paste operation (from a source which had worked on an earlier install) and then double checked the letters and numbers. They were correct, but it still says "invalid serial number" and "function disabled" for the partitioning I want to do.
Based on what you wrote, it would appear that some kind of flag is improperly set, despite having a valid serial number. Please remember that the Lite version had been working, before it suddenly started saying "invalid serial number."
Check one thing on your invoice. there may be an extra space before the last set of digits. Watch for that.
If this is not it, send a note to support at softraid. I cannot post your license online.
