I am on a SR (full app) trial but have decided against RAID 5. So SRL should be enough for me.

What do I have to do to make this transition? Or will SRL handle everything for me?

All you need to do is create a RAID 1 volume. You still get email notification as a benefit, also. not need to run Lite if you have a full license.

Thanks.

I am already on a trial of the full product and created (and populated) the RAID 1 volume using that trial.

Can I now buy Lite and just continue to use that Raid 1 volume that I created using the full-product trial?

Yes you can just use Lite and continue to use your existing volume.

Great. Thnx.

This isn’t working for me. I downloaded 5.6.1 trail. At day 29, I purchased 5.6.3 Lite. I installed the license and was asked to update my install. Did that and had to reboot. Now when I use the 5.6.3 Lite GUI, I’m told my license is already being used. When I run the 5.6.1 GUI, I’m showing that I have 30 days for my evaluation. Do I just uninstall 5.6.1 and reinstall 5.6.3 Lite? What happens to my current volumes? Thanks.

Just run 5.6.3 SoftRAID lite. Click on your boot volume and "reinstall SoftRAID driver".

restart.

if you get a license is being used, let us know what else is on the network. Did you have SoftRAID running on any other machines (with the license entered?)

If you just purchased, then you should not have this error. Let us know what happens.

This is my only machine running this software. I entered the license on my 5.6.1 trail software with 23 hours remaining for my trail. I was then instructed to download the latest version and I installed it. Don’t know if I was supposed to remove the 5.6.1 trail first before I installed the 5.6.3 Lite version.

What is this about clicking my boot volume?

What will happen to my two mirrored volumes if I uninstall the trail and reinstall the Lite version?

Thanks.

Did you get this version of SoftRAID Lite:

SoftRAID Lite: https://softraid.com/srl

All you should need to do is run this version and enter your serial, if necessary.

You can always and safely "Reinstall SoftRAID driver". IT will not affect your existing volumes, all this does is replace the kernel extension in your system folder.

I don’t recall where I got the 5.6.3 Lite installer, I just recall it being automatically downloaded.

So it should be safe to uninstall 5.6.1 and 5.6.3 Lite, then reinstall 5.6.3 Lite and apply my license?

Thanks.

All you need to do is run 5.6.3 Lite. You can optionally "reinstall SoftRAID driver" with Lite, but no need to "uninstall" SoftRAID.

I went ahead and uninstalled 5.6.1. It asked me to reboot. I rebooted and my volumes were gone. I ran the 5.6.3 Lite GUI and it said something about no driver is installed and asked if I wanted to install it. I installed the driver and my volumes reappeared. I re-entered my license number and it said my license was good. I thought all was well. I switched users and in that user’s profile, a message popped up saying the license I was using was already being used. I switched back to my admin account and sure enough, in the bottom left corner of the GUI, it said something to the effect of invalid license. I’m not sure what else to do except for uninstalling 5.6.3 and then reinstalling. Thanks.

What you are describing, is running the SoftRAID app in two user accounts results in a "serial number in use" message.

If you go back to the first user account and quit SoftRAID, then switch back to the second user, does SoftRAID work without a serial number in use message?

That should not be the case. If it is, we will fix this.

I went ahead and uninstalled SR Lite 5.6.3. My volumes disappeared. I then rebooted. Once back up, reinstalled SR Lite 5.6.3. Asked if I wanted to write over the 5.6.3 folder and I said YES. I started the Easy RAID Setup and it asked me to install the driver. After install of driver, was asked for SN or I could choose 30 Day evaluation mode. I entered my SN and it said it was valid and said if I wanted to change my current volumes or create new ones. I hit cancel and brought up the GUI. It then presented me with the message about my SN is already in use. I’m the only one on at this point. I don’t understand what is wrong.

No need to do an uninstall, just run 5.6.3 Lite.
