The other day I came across the following SoftRAID error message
Feb 21 22:22:12 SoftRAID Driver[87] : The SoftRAID volume "LBD Time Machine" (disk18) encountered an error (E00002C1). A program attempted to read or write to a volume which was not open.
The "LBD Time Machine" disk is one of my Apple Time Machine disks, and this error caused Time Machine to not discover the "LBD Time Machine" disk and skipped making backups to it with a warning message.
I simply removed the "LBD Time Machine" disk for the Time Machine's list of disks to backup to and then reinstated it. This resolved the issue and Time Machine was then able to continue using the disk for backups.
The "LBD Time Machine" is a SoftRAID managed disk.
We would have to examine your SoftRAID log and support file, but you can also do so. If all the disks on a thunderbolt enclosure drop off the bus at the same time, this is an Apple issue we have been investigating. (there will be time stamps for all events). This will be recorded for all SoftRAID disks, where "a disk for the volume xxx was removed or stopped responding...." all at the same identical time.
Let us know. We can collect more data off line if you suspect this is the case.
