Will not boot after 5.5 upgrade

I purchased SoftRAID Lite 5.1.1 a couple of months ago and it was been working fine until today. Yesterday I upgraded to 5.5 and it seemed to work OK until this morning when the computer would not boot. This was my first time at rebooting after the upgrade. It would either get stuck on the Apple logo or go into a reboot cycle. During the upgrade both the application and driver were updated.

I was able to get it to boot by going into Safe Mode. However, restarting the computer afterwards still resulted in failure to boot. I am able to workaround the issue by using the Startup Manager to boot. I press and hold the Option key after turning the computer on and selecting the boot drive. I have to do this every time I reboot or cold boot.

My computer is an old Mac Pro running OS X 10.11.4. The boot drive is a single SSD and I am using SoftRAID to manage two hard drives setup as RAID 0. The RAID volume is only used for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom caching.
