Hi,

I recently got a Thunderbay 4 drive which I want to use in RAID 1 configuration.I currently have two 18 TB hard drives. If I add two more 18 TB drives and create a RAID 1 volume, will I have  a 36 TB mirrored with the other 36 TB or is it going to be same 18 TB copied on all 4 drives ?

I appreciate your help,

Vlad

RAID 1 is two disks in a mirror, (or more). If you make a 4 drive RAID 1, the total capacity will be 18TB.
You could create two RAID 1 volumes, both mirrored, giving you two volumes with 18TB each.

Or you could create a RAID 1+0 volume, which is two sets of stripes, mirrored together, which gives you a single volume of 36TB capacity.

RAID 1 +0 is safe, has good performance, and may be what you are asking about.
