MacOS Sequoia 15.4, SoftRAID 8.5

I have 4 WD 12TB drives in an OWC ThunderBay 4 Enclosure

Drives were formatted by Disk Utility as APFS

When I try to create a New volume from SoftRAID, I get an error that "no disks available which have been initialized for use with SoftRAID.

When I select any of these volumes in SoftRAID, the "Initialize" choice is grayed out in Disk menu (and I see no way to initialize the disk).

I then converted the drives to SoftRAID non-RAID volume's.

They were then recognized however, the largest RAID 5 volume using all 4 disks, was only 55.8MB

These drives used to be a 36TB RAID 5 who connected to my old Mac.

I'm lost as to what to do next.

Thanks in advance.

I just tried "Deleting" the 4 Volumes and now I was able to initialize them.

I was then able to create a 36TB RAID 5 APFS using those disks.

Keeping this post in case others encounter this

@hoss713

What you likely missed was you need to select the specific disk to initialize. All disks need to be in SoftRAID format to create a volume and since we support multiple volumes on disks, you need to delete any existing volumes to create a new maximum size volume.
