I'm just getting started with my first RAID setup (2TB SSDs in an Express 4M2). This will be used mainly for photo and video editing. My question is, upon setup, I'm asked about optimizing the volume. There are options for Digital Photography, video, etc.
What does this setting actually do, and what would be best for this application?

Optimization is mostly for rebuilding or creating a RAID 0 volume (selecting the stripe unit size)
If this is RAID 0, then I would use Digital Photography.

Thanks. I'm doing RAID 5. Seems like it won't really be an issue.

RAID 5 optimization is about rebuilding priority. You can change that at any time. Setting it for photography essentially means that a rebuild has low priority, it will not interrupt your edits.
