My SoftRaid volume has an eject icon next to it in the finder sidebar. Can I remove/hide it? It is not appropriate as all the disks used in the array are internal. Thanks.

Sorry no.

This is a Mac OS X feature/bug. In over 10 years, Apple has declined to fix it.

As an alternative, you may want to consider "removing" the drive from the sidbar. You simply click and drag the drive out form the sidebar and when you let go the drive disappears in a puff of smoke.

The drive will remain mounted but will not be there to accidentally eject. If you ever want to add it back, you can open a Finder window at the m level to see all the mounted volumes, then drag it back to the sidebar.
