Moving volumes to sidestep raid 5 add new disk limitation

I have a thunderbay 4, but currently have only 2 disks. I understand that softraid has a limitation where I cannot add disks to a raid5 later. But can I create 4 volumes in the 2 disks, and then later when I add another disk, simply move one of the volumes from one disk to the new one? And then resize accordingly
