Hello,

I have a MacBook Pro laptop with two 1TB drives, both same make, model and both passed tests. Currently only the one is bootable and hoping to mirror that drive to the secondary drive, but how?

I cannot find any clear instructions on how to do this, so can someone please office some guidance? In the event it all goes bad I am using Carbon Copy and therefore have a full backup of the system and recovery partitions.

Screenshot of softRAID assuming this helps...

Many thanks in advance,
Morrile

Initialize the new disk with SoftRAID.(Certify the disk is best practice)

Create a bootable Thumbdrive. Boot from that.

Use "convert to SoftftRAID" Then use "convert to Mirror". Then you will have a mirror volume. Restart as normal from your laptop.

Hello,

Many thanks for the reply but can you be more specific as your reply created further questions?

e.g. if I create a boot USB how can I run SoftRAID?
"convert to SoftftRAID" is that on the primary drive that has two partitions OS El Capitan & eDrive?
"convert to SoftftRAID" seem to work on partitions only, please correct me if I am wrong.
"convert to Mirror" is that done on the secondary drive?
I am still using the evaluation software for the moment.

I ask as I have never used this software and whilst those with the knowledge it's very straight forward, it's not for us first timers.

Kind regards,
Morrile

Copy SoftRAID to the new boot volume (USB) and run it.
select the Apple volume and "convert" to SoftRAID format
Select the new disk and "initialize it" (disks menu)
Select the converted, now SoftRAID volume and "convert" to a Mirror.

It is very simple.
