The SoftRAID driver does not need testing. You could create your volume and do read/write exercises. The SoftRAID driver has been bundled with every version of Mac OS since 10.3. It has to pass Apple testing for this.
The SoftRAID driver does not perform the actual reads/writes, it points OS X to the disk and macOS performs the actual writes. This is for compatibility purposes.
