I'm running SoftRaid XT 5.8.4, driver 5.8.4 on a Thunderbay4. One drive went bad and I've removed it (iMac crashed right after booting when it was installed.) OWC suggested I rebuild but when I right click on Tunderpay and choose "Rebuild" I hear the drive spin a little but nothing seems to happen. Any suggestions? Attached is the log.
Two problems. The disk is missing, so you cannot rebuild with a missing disk. SoftRAID kept your volume alive when the disk failed, so it worked correctly.
However, when the system crashed another disk went out of sync. So you cannot add a new disk to the volume.
You need to (I know this is not what you want to hear) backup your Thunderbay, add the new disk to your system and create a new RAID 5 volume, then restore.
