Hi,

I bought a 4TB WD MyPassport Ultra to use as a clone for my MacBook Pro.

I certified it with SoftRaid (all good!) and then created 2 Volumes, 2 x 2TB, one of which I'll use to clone my Mac.

In Chronosync, when I choose the above volume, it says it needs to convert it to AFPS to be able to use it as a destination volume. It then fails to convert…

Am I missing something?

Alex

The problem is SoftRAID can no longer be a boot volume. So even if you cloned, it would not be a bootable clone.

If that is OK with you, then you can use the SoftRAID beta and create an APFS volume to clone to.

Otherrwise, zero disk with SoftRAID, then create an APFS volume with Disk Utility. then create a "new" volume inside the other. They will share space, rather than be a hard partition. You can create a hard partition if you want.

Thanks for your feedback.

Can I have both SR 5 and SR 6 installed on my Mac at the same time? I wouldn't want to use beta software on my 2 Thunderbay RAIDs…

Only one SoftRAID driver can be installed at a time. However, you CAN run 6.0, create an APFS volume, then uninstall the driver and run 5.8.4 and use that. 5.8.4 can operate APFS volumes fine, the application does not have proper support for them (cannot unmount, etc APFS volumes)
