What is with Softraid and Sonoma? The macOS Betas are now available to everyone registered as a developer for free. Reason enough to quicky start some tests...

We have a beta version of the app available at softraid.com/sr_beta

It will run under Sonoma.

@softraid-support Just so you know, SoftRaid Beta does not run on the second Sonoma Beta.  It immediately crashes with an error that an internal part has stopped functioning and to quit and restart the app.  This is 7.6b6.  No amount of restarting computer, or app, launches it successfully, and drives are not available.  Beta, of course, so, not too surprising there are issues.

If it helps, the Console says that the crash is in:

SoftRaid itself doesn't say much in the logs:

I've been restarting a few times, likely the reasons for the timestamps.

As per the crash I pasted earlier:

Version 14.0 Beta (23A5276g)

Definitely does not want to run, not clear what the internal component is that is causing this, possibly softraidd?

@koloa

I am not close to a Sonoma machine, but I had a different build number.
What computer are you running?
Is this a clean install of Sonoma, or did you "migrate" your data/apps?

Finally got around doing it. First time, no problem, ran right away. Currently on Sonoma Beta 3,

Funny enough, when I go to sr_beta, I now get a 7.6.... No v8 anymore? The version I have is v8. The guy above me with the crash stated he has v7.6b6, which is also what I get from the download there... So where is v8?

@sunstarfire

SoftRAID 8 is not going to be the next release number, so we changed to a 7.6 beta.

7.6 is the current and correct number. Sorry for confusion there!

8 will be a next year release, with lots more new features.

Ah, so instead of using 8 (which I do) I should go to 7.6 beta?

Two things I see. First, I have to totally uninstall 8 to get the system to see 7.6. Second, every time I launch SoftRaid, I have to install the Helper. Is there a reason why it does not stay installed? Apart from that, it works fine, except that the registration is greyed out, and I cannot reinstall (or uninstall) the SoftRaid driver.

@sunstarfire

You cannot install or uninstall the SoftRAID driver in Ventura or Sonoma. We are fixing he helper tool bug. What do you mean by you need to uninstall 8 before installing 76?
